Severin. Two Spanish Songbooks: ‘Cancionero Capitular de la Colombina’ (SV2) and the ‘Cancionero de Egerton’

“This is an edition, with notes and introduction, of two medieval Spanish songbooks. Both contain poetry by Montoro not found in other cancioneros and in the same order, and there are indications that both cancioneros were using the same exemplar or booklet containing the Montoro poetry. The introduction considers the norms used in the transcription of the cancioneros and a bibliography of useful literature is included. With notes and an introduction, this is an edition of two medieval Spanish songbooks which can be seen to have a relationship to each other through coincident poetry: both contain poetry by Montoro not found in other cancioneros and in the same order, and there are indications that both cancioneros were using the same exemplar or booklet containing the Montoro poetry.”
